Stovykla Work Weekend 8th July 2006

AUŠROS skautu stovykla will be 23rd July to 31st July. We are planning on 60 – 70 scouts attending (although, I am told that more may come as people are not “emingrating†to Lietuva as massively as they have over the past several years.) As ever, planning on several fronts has been taking place. And, as usual, there are tasks and jobs to be performed before camp at the camp site. Thus, the purpose of this note.
I am calling a work-weekend at Sodyba on 8th and 9th July for all scout leaders and parents and friends wishing to help. There are a number of the usual tasks to be accomplished and a couple of new assignments I would propose us to do, which would help Sodyba and us:
The campsite needs to be thoroughly cleaned. It is now beings used by all and sundry, thus, the “forests are alive with rubbishâ€. The idea is to load up a skip and have it cleared on Sunday 24th.
All toilet and washing facilities need to be cleaned and repaired where necessary
Kitchen has to be cleaned and setup for camp. This includes all kitchen ware.
The tent situation needs to be reviewed and more bought/asked for, etc.
The scout bnuklas needs to be cleaned out and prepared for occupancy by the cooking staff during the week.
While at Jonines this year I was very pleased with the number of people who attended with their families. (some 250) What was not so pleasant was seeing almost all children, with their parents, using the “short cut†to cross the road to Sodyba. One was almost hit by a passing car.
Therefore, the idea is to create steps right across from the gate behind the kitchen. Not a big job as things go, but an important one. More on this later and all help will be greatly appreciated.
A full camp leaders’ meeting will take place on Sunday, 9th July at 1100hrs. All aspects of camp will be discussed and, hopefully resolved. It is very importand that all leaders attend this meeting. Thus, if you cannot be there for the whole weekend, pls make sure that you are there for the Vadovu posedis on Sunday.
