So what is GO Ape?
The 16 scouts and guests, who came to Headley Park on the 25th of October didn’t take long to find out the answer.
Everything happened not far from Headley Park, in Alice Holt Activities Centre:
The day was thoroughly enjoyed whilst hanging on ropes, 6-10 metres above the ground. Any trace of fears of height soon disappeared due to no other choice apart from climbing up and up and having the strong wind. After four hours we finally turned into monkeys, evidence being a GO APE certificate. It is hard to understand what GO APE really is from a single opinion, so maybe photos can help (see photos)
Tired, hungry, but happy and now as monkeys, we got back to the golden leafed scout camp where we continued to spend our time in a scout-y way. We started the Tie programme, made dinner and had fun by the campfire.
The weekend went passed quickly and like all fun scout activities, the GO APE quest required courage, the ability to work in a group and it attracted everyone to the friendly society of scouts. It was a great day out, and, we hope, that more scouts will try out GO APE in the future.
We thank the leaders and the participants
Let’s be prepared !
